It is reported that if all goes well, then in the near future a candidate must possess a graduate degree so that he can enroll in a course for commercial pilot training in India.

The reason behind this proposal has been given by a senior official. According to the official, if a pilot desires to switch their career after many years of flying, then a graduate degree will help them land the roles based on executives and leadership domain. The idea of altering the minimum education requirements has been pitched at a nascent stage. No official decision has been taken on this change till February 2021.

Once the minimum education and medical qualifications are met, then the candidate undergoes basic flying training at a flying school (government or private). Aviation Courses After 12th in India are met with high expectations by a number of candidates. This training spans around two to two and a half years, after which the successful candidates are provided with a DGCA-issued license.

After receiving the pilot license, the candidate goes through the induction scrutinization at the airlines to which he/she has applied.
